The short explanation of this alert was:

Councilmember Phil Mendelson has introduced a bill in the DC Council to require fast-food and other chain restaurants to provide calorie information on menu boards and calorie, saturated plus trans fat, carbohydrate, and sodium information on printed menus.

Restaurant foods are a significant and growing portion of Americans’ diets, yet few restaurants provide nutrition information (unlike in supermarkets, where most foods have nutrition labels).  The National Restaurant Association has begun an all-out effort to oppose the bill, so the Council needs to hear your support.

Urge your Councilmember and Mayor Anthony Williams to support the Nutritional Information at Restaurants Act of 2003 (B15-0387).  Please send your message today!
